Frequently Asked Questions

We know that choosing a publishing partner is a big decision. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you still have questions after reviewing, we’d love to connect!

What type of publishing house is Divine Purpose Publishing House (DPPH)?

Divine Purpose Publishing House is a boutique publishing house offering a relational approach to both hybrid publishing and our exclusive Legacy Track. As a boutique publisher, we’re intentionally selective with the authors we partner with—not to exclude, but to preserve the depth, care, and purpose behind every book we release. We prioritize quality, personal connection, and purposeful storytelling.

Most authors begin with our hybrid publishing model, which allows you to retain full creative control and ownership of your work while receiving professional editing, design, and publishing support.

For authors who continue their publishing journey with us and release at least three books through DPPH, we offer the opportunity to enter our Legacy Track—a full-service publishing pathway where we invest in the publishing and marketing process on your behalf. While this track includes deeper partnership, we remain committed to honoring your creative rights and voice every step of the way.

At DPPH, publishing is more than a transaction—it’s a legacy of love, purpose, and impact.

What does the publishing process at DPPH look like?

The process begins with an initial consultation to understand your vision and goals. Once your manuscript is submitted, our editorial team will review it and provide a projected timeline. From there, we’ll guide you through each stage—editing, design, formatting, and distribution—ensuring a collaborative, seamless experience.

How long does the process typically take?

Most books take 4–12 months from manuscript submission to publication. Timelines vary depending on editing needs, manuscript length, and design scope. You’ll receive a personalized timeline after our editorial review.

Will I have creative control over my book?

Yes. You maintain full creative control at every stage. We provide professional guidance, but final decisions always rest with you.

Will I have input in the design process?

Absolutely! Our design team collaborates with you to ensure your cover and interior layout reflect your vision and voice. You’ll be involved in key approvals along the way.

Editing, Distribution & Author Role

What types of editing services do you offer?

We offer three levels of editing: developmental editing, line editing, and proofreading. Every publishing investment includes line editing and proofreading. If our editors determine that developmental editing is needed after initial review, we’ll discuss that option before moving forward.

What does the distribution process look like?

We handle all aspects of distribution, including listing your book on major platforms like Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Our global distribution network reaches over 45,000 outlets—including independent bookstores, online retailers, libraries, and schools. You’ll also have the option to order author copies at a discounted rate.

What is my role as the author in this process?

Your role includes providing a finalized manuscript, participating in the editing and design process, and approving key milestones. But just as importantly, you are the heart and voice behind the message. No one can share it like you can.

While we handle the publishing process, we encourage you to:

• Begin sharing your journey with your audience

• Build early buzz on social media or within your community

• Join author groups (locally or online) for connection and support

• Begin growing an email list of interested readers

• Submit your author bio and photo (if not already sent)

• Reach out to early supporters and potential reviewers

Publishing is a partnership. The more connected and present you are with your audience before launch, the greater the impact your book can make.

Investment & Services

What does the investment include?

Your investment includes professional editing, custom cover design, interior formatting, ISBN registration, publishing file preparation, and distribution support. You’ll also receive up to three personalized marketing strategy sessions and consistent author care throughout the process.

Are there additional costs beyond the initial investment?

Most core services are included. Any additional services—such as extensive revisions, rush timelines, or expanded marketing—will be discussed and approved beforehand to ensure full transparency.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer flexible payment options. Most authors pay 50% at signing and 50% at final approval, but custom schedules are available upon request.

Marketing & Promotion

Do you offer marketing services?

Yes, we offer core promotional support with every publishing package. This includes social media posts and promotional graphics shared on our platforms to introduce your book to our wider community.

We also offer several optional opportunities to help extend your reach:

  • A featured author interview on our blog and social channels
  • Guest blog post opportunities if you’d like to share a reflection or message related to your book
  • Placement in our online bookstore
  • Seasonal author features throughout the year (selected titles only)

When your book is chosen for a feature, we’ll notify you so you can watch for our post and share it with your own audience.

In addition to what we share, we also equip you with practical tools and resources to help you promote your book confidently on your own. At the end of the publishing process, you’ll receive a curated list of creative and effective ways to share your book within your local community such as partnering with libraries, bookstores, local events, and more. Our goal is to empower you with clear next steps so your message can continue to reach the readers it was meant for.

Rights, Royalties & Future Projects

Will I retain the rights to my book?

Yes. You will always retain full rights and ownership of your work when publishing with DPPH. We believe your story belongs to you.

How are royalties handled?

We operate on a 70/30 royalty split, with 70% of net royalties going to you, the author, and 30% retained by DPPH. This model helps us provide ongoing backend support, continued platform management, and rotating marketing and publicity opportunities for all of our authors—even after your book is published.

You’ll receive a full breakdown of how royalties are calculated in your publishing agreement, along with regular sales reports to keep you informed and empowered.

Can I publish more books with DPPH in the future?

Absolutely. We love growing with our authors. You’re always welcome to publish future works with us. Once you’ve completed three books with DPPH, you may become eligible for our Legacy Track model, where we take on the financial investment—allowing you to focus on your creative work.

Support & Next Steps

What kind of support can I expect as a DPPH author?

You’ll receive hands-on support from a relational team that cares about your message and your experience. This includes:

• A dedicated point of contact

• Regular check-ins

• Emotional encouragement

• Strategic guidance

• Transparent communication from start to finish

What makes someone a good fit for DPPH?
